Celebrated news anchor Victoria Rubadiri has revealed how vital telling African stories will shape her career at the global media house, CNN.

During a conversation with CNN's anchor Eleni Giokos, Rubadiri expressed delight in joining the team of its long-running multiplatform series Connecting Africa: a show that has been running for five years and covers emerging stories about Africa.

The 30-minute monthly show, hosted by Giokos, is distributed across CNN's digital and social platforms.

Her first assignment will involve diving deep into intra-African tourism and exploring the impact of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.

Her second assignment will assess the aviation sector as she interviews some of the biggest players in the industry to discuss their impact on society.

"We will be looking at intra-African tourism and of course, huge hotel chains have been signing deals on the continent and this will not attract foreign investors but tap into the middle class. We will look at what happens into the horizon," she stated.

"Another key component is aviation. We will talk to some of the biggest players to find out how they are improving connectivity."

Rubadiri will also focus on the effect of freight wagons in boosting services at the Mombasa port.

"Another area that we don't think about too much is the Caribbean and African trade; what those trade ties are in terms of private and public sector. A lot of exciting stuff coming up on the show," the news anchor stated.

"Refrigerated wagons that will efficiently transport perishable goods from Mombasa port to other parts of Kenya."

Moments after her exit from Royal Media Services (RMS), CNN International Senior Vice President and Global Head of Features Content Ellana Lee expressed confidence in the plethora of experience Rubadiri brings to the team.

"Victoria will be a fantastic addition to Connecting Africa bringing a wealth of expertise and storytelling experience from across the continent. Her appointment speaks to CNN's commitment to telling African stories from an African perspective and our investment in the Connecting Africa franchise," she noted.
