Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua vowed to convene a crisis meeting to solve squabbles among Kiambu County leaders.
Speaking at a Church Service in Kiambu on Sunday, the DP revealed that he was appalled when leaders exchanged words at the same service he attended.
Rigathi, as a result, asked leaders to unite and work together adding that he will soon convene a meeting to address their differences.
"It pains me alot to see leaders tearing each other apart. I appeal to the leaders to work together for the development of the county. Kiambu is important to President Ruto and I, it gave us a lot of votes in 2022. I will convene a meeting to find a lasting solution to any squabbles. Please tone down on the high-octane politics," he stated.
The Deputy President spoke after a section of the county leaders engaged in an exchange of words at the event over the leadership of the devolved unit and gubernatorial aspirations.
Earlier, the leaders he referred to were National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah and Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi.
Ichung'wah, who was first to speak, pointed an accusatory finger at the governor arguing that the county ranked top in corruption issues, rivalling only Nairobi.
"On matters touching on accountability, Let me say as members of Parliament we have no apologies to demand accountability but at the National Government and county government levels," stated Ichung'wah.
"Some of the issues we are talking about have already been pointed out by the Auditor General that the counties of Kiambu and Nairobi are leading in matters misuse of public resources and that must come to an end.
"We don't point those things because we had our governor or we do not want to work with him but because it is what we are elected to do," the MP added.
Wamatangi, however, countered the assertions by indicating that the reports addressed mismanagement by previous regimes.
"Let me ask you, as you've been an MP and now serve as our deputy President, and you're familiar with matters of law: should we be questioning you about issues of the Jubilee Government?" clarified Wamatangi.
"When the Auditor General publishes something, should we direct our questions to you? Your Excellency, let's be truthful because the reports released by the Auditor General pertain to issues of past regimes. I am responding to matters concerning the governments of Nyoro (James), Waititu (Ferdinand), and Kabogo (William)."
Gachagua further revealed that he had invited all governors to an Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) meeting at his Karen home on Monday, where issues related to the flooding situation and multi-agency response will take center stage.
