3 Badly Injured for Attending Uhuru's Event

An armed gang on Friday night attacked three men just after attending the official launch of the National Public Lighting Project which was officiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta at Makadara grounds in Mombasa.

The men, who had been threatened before the attack, claimed the mob assaulted them for allegedly attending the development project aimed to increase security in the area.

“Before leaving the event we were cornered after I was hit using a piece of wood and one of the men unleashed a pistol saying they would deal with us,” said one of the victims.

Hassad Abdul Karim, Isad Abubakar and Mohammed Juma were reportedly attacked using a pistol, machetes and other crude weapons which instilled deep wounds on their heads and different parts of their bodies.

The three are recuperating at Coast General Hospital as they await further investigations into the matter.

“These people are in ICU as we speak. One of them was shot; therefore we do not have to wait for a P3 form because someone was using a gun illegally. We deduced this because so far no one has reported that he used his firearm for self defence,” said laywyer Cliff Ombeta.
