Babu Owino Warns Kenyans Against Conmen Using His Name

Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has warned Kenyans against conmen who are using his name to solicit money from the public.

In a post shared on his Facebook page, the legislator stated: "I wish to distance myself from individuals who are conning members of the public on the pretense that they have purportedly been authorized to distribute motorbikes to the youth on my behalf."

The lawmaker divulged that the men claiming to be associated with him (Babu) have been asking for money to allegedly help them process logbooks for the said motorbikes.

He went ahead to announce: "I will handsomely reward anyone who will provide information that would lead to the arrest of the mentioned con artists."

However, this is not the first time Babu is having conmen use his name to solicit money from Nairobians, especially residents from his constituency.

In January, Babu named a man who was swindling Embakasi East constituents claiming to be the Constituency Development Fund Chairman.

"It has been brought to my attention that one Jeff Ouna has been masquerading as the current Embakasi East CDF chairman and the constituency chairman and has gone ahead to con people based on the aforementioned titles.

"Members of the public are hereby warned to avoid any transactions with the said person on behalf of the constituency or myself as the current member of Parliament for Embakasi East Constituency," the MP tweeted.

He went on to ask anyone who had fallen prey to the man's schemes to get in contact with relevant authorities for further action.

"I encourage anyone who has been duped by the aforementioned individual to report the matter to police and follow up on the same with me by dropping an email through info@babuowino.co.ke," he stated.
