ODM Rebel Aisha Jumwa Discloses Details of Calls With Raila

Malindi Member of Parliament (MP) Aisha Jumwa on Saturday revealed that she was in constant communication with ODM party leader Raila Odinga despite having declared support for deputy president William Ruto.

Speaking to Daily Nation, the MP explained that there was no bad blood between her and her party leader.

She added that she has been updating the former Prime Minister of her political exploits and he is yet to express any objections to her stand.

"He calls me and I call him and talk. I have a lot of respect for him as my party leader.

"If there are concerns then it is Mr Odinga who could have called me to tell me his concerns. Without him communicating to me directly over my decisions, then I am okay with it," she explained.

The MP further dismissed speculations that she and Mr Odinga were at loggerheads attributing them to political detractors.

"There are people out there who want to see me and my leader going our different ways but I want to tell them that we are not enemies with the former Prime Minister," she clarified.

She also dismissed rumours that she and fellow rebel, Msambweni legislator Mohammed Dori, were in secret talks with Odinga to iron out their differences.

"Which truce? That only comes when you are at loggerheads with your leader. In this case, I and Raila are not enemies," the MP stated.

The two MPs ignored summons by the Orange party's disciplinary committee where they had been required to show cause for their defection.
