Six Canadian Family Members Perish Enroute to Kenya

A Canadian family lost six of its family members in the Sunday Ethiopian Airlines crash that killed 157 people, among them 32 Kenyans.

Kosha Vaidya was traveling with her husband, Prerit Dixit(45), two daughters, Ashak and Anushka (13 and 14 respectively) and her parents Pannagesh Vaidya (71) and mother Hansini Vaidya(63).

The six were visiting Kosha's birthplace in Kenya and were among the 18 Canadians in the ill-fated flight.

"The family holiday to Kenya was supposed to be the first visit for my sister to her birthplace in decades," stated Manat Vaidya, Kosha's brother.

Reports indicate that Kosha worked for the Canadian Hearing Society as a HR adviser who was described as a remarkable person by the Hearing Society.

"She will be greatly missed and remembered for her intelligence, professionalism and dynamic personality," the society's CEO Julia Dumanian noted.

The family lived in Brampton, a Canadian city in Ontario's greater Toronto area.

In a statement, the Brampton mayor, Patrick Brown stated flags at City Hall would be flown half-mast until further notice.

The family was part of the 157 people that died in the Nairobi bound Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX8 airplane.

The plane was also carrying 6 Egyptians, 9 Ethiopians, 7 French nationals, 8 Americans, 8 Italians, 8 Chinese, and 7 Britons among others.
