ANC Expels Nominated MP George Osotsi Over Ksh56 Million Loss

Amani National Congress (ANC) has expelled a Member of Parliament over the loss of party funds amounting to Ksh56 million.

Nominated MP Godfrey Atieno Osotsi  was expelled on Tuesday  over what was termed as “wrongful conduct.”

The decision to expel Osotsi is linked to an audit of the party’s funds during the last polls that revealed Ksh56 million could not be accounted for.

“Pursuant to the Article 50 and having exhaustively deliberated over the matters before it, the Disciplinary Committee has Decided that Hon Godfrey Osotsi be hereby expelled forthwith from the membership of ANC party.

“He is no longer a member of this party and ceases to enjoy the privileges attendant to being a member of the party, or to act on behalf of the party in any way whatsoever,” read a press release sent to newsrooms.

The Musalia-led outfit aid it had communicated the expulsion of Osotsi to the clerk of the registrar of political parties.

The party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) also summoned nominated Senator Petronila Were to appear before a disciplinary committee on Friday, 29 March and defend herself after being implicated in the audit.

“Petronila Were is hereby summoned within 14 days to appear before the Disciplinary Committee and offer clarification to her response to allegations facing her.”

On Wednesday, Osotsi accused the party of engaging in political witch-hunt, citing that the audit query was yet to be concluded by the DCI.

“I have not received the letter. The so-called disciplinary committee is kangaroo thing. I will provide a comprehensive statement once they officially send the letter to me,” he mentioned.
