How Man Died After Girlfriend's Attempt to Discipline Him Turned Tragic

A lady and her mother are in Court after an attempt to discipline a 23-year-old boyfriend turned tragic.

Esther Wambui, a 21-year-old Utalii college student and her mother Rosemary Nyawira allegedly masterminded the murder of Dennis Okumu, a matatu tout in Githurai.

On the night of February 3, 2018, the woman lured the lover to her mother's rural home in Karatina to discipline him following a previous physical abuse by Okumu.

"The deceased had taken supper at his in-law's home and was killed while being escorted to where he was to sleep," a police investigator, Corporal Eliud Odhiambo, indicated.

The family had reportedly hired five-assailants to discipline the deceased but their plans turned tragic with the men killing Okumu.

"The mother, who works at a Karatina Hospital confessed to the crime," Corporal Odhiambo noted.

The mother and daughter then hired a boda boda operator at Ksh3,000 to dump the body in Kirimara, Mathira East sub-county.

The Court was told that Okumu's body had five stab wounds in the neck, his eyes had been gouged out and that some of his front teeth were missing - indicating the gruel death that he underwent.

Wambui and Okumu had sired a child together and were living in Zimmerman but he had rented a separate house with his friend in Githurai.

Before the murder in Nyeri, the tout had been attacked and injured in Zimmerman Estate by thugs who stormed the house they cohabited with Wambui.
