4 Hitmen Sent to Kill Me - Governor

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga claims his life is in danger following last week's demonstrations against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Mr Rasanga said on Sunday that he feared for his life immediately his security detail was withdrawn days after leading the anti-IEBC protests in his county.

The governor further alleged that a hit squad had been sent to Siaya to execute him, but failed to identify the person behind the scheme.

“I am reading mischief on the abrupt withdrawal of my bodyguards because I have firsthand information that four hit-men from the flying squad are out to end my life,” Rasanga was quoted by the Star.

He stated that the government did not give him a proper explanation why his bodyguards were detached.

The Governor linked Police Spokesman Charles Owino to his predicaments for implying that he (Rasanga) incited the public during the protests. Mr Rasanga stated that the government should be held responsible if anything happened to him.

The demonstrations in Siaya turned bloody after police reportedly shot two people while leaving 15 others injured.
