4 Kenyans Escaping to Join ISIS Arrested

Police officers arrested four terror suspects recently released by court, as they were allegedly travelling to Libya to join the Islamic State (ISIS) terror group.

Kassim Ali, Ali Omar Bwanadi, Muhamad Abdallah and Mustafa Kheri Shali were nabbed at the Busia border trying to cross to Uganda after being trailed by under-cover officers.

The four who had escaped from Majengo estate in Mombasa County, had previously been charged at a Mombasa court with terror related counts and were released on bail.

National Police Service Spokesman George Kinoti confirmed the incident describing the arrests as a win since the four already had pending cases in court.

The suspects were on Monday morning arraigned at the Mombasa Law Courts where an order to detain them for 30 days was issued pending further investigations into their conduct.

Police officers have stepped up the fight against terrorism carrying out stringent operations to nab individuals involved in terror related crimes.

Last month, a student at the University of Nairobi was apprehended at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, as he attempted to fly to join the ISIS group not knowing he was under police radar for several months.

The Bio-Chemistry first year student had reportedly been lured to join the terrorists after being promised a well paying job by an online recruiter.
