A section of politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto has disclosed plans to coronate the DP as Mt Kenya's regional Kingpin in a church ceremony.
According to a report by Nation, Ruto will unveil his contest team including his running mate from the Mt Kenya region during the hallmark ceremony.
"They have picked their kingpins from the bushes and we will pick ours from the altar of God," Nakuru senator Susan Kihika stated in reference to the recent coronation of Nation Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi as Mt Kenya's spokesperson.
Further, Muranga senator Irungu Kang'ata affirmed that they were working on a programme that would see strategic churches used during the ceremony.
He affirmed that point men from various regions have been selected in order to work on the list of churches.
"We are competing against opponents who oppose the church and do not have any known mainstream faith.
"Since Mt Kenya is home to God-fearing voters, we will have to do things differently and avoid competing on the platform of darkness, dedicating our candidate to God," he stated.
His sentiments were echoed by Nyandarua Women Representative Faith Gitau who affirmed that Ruto was the best candidate fitted to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"Yes, it is true that we are planning to unveil our candidate straight from the wings of the church. We are investing Dr. Ruto's candidacy in the blessings of God.
"The opponents that we are facing can only be tackled through investing in prayer. Ours will only be to tour the country to ask for votes and God will convince the voters that our bet is His bet," Gitau stated.
Key allies of the Ruto regime have been fronted to be the potential running mates of the DP.
This has led the allies from various counties listing among their demands, to have the running mate slot come from their particular region.
