Watch Tanzanian Choir Sing Kikuyu Version of Mkono Wa Bwana

A Tanzanian choir has grabbed headlines due to their perfect Kikuyu rendition of "Tumeuona mkono wako Bwana" (we have seen your hand, Lord).

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the choir was joined by Kenyan gospel artist Evelyn Wanjiru who had visited the country to host the Night of Worship event held on Friday, June 18. 

She also lauded the group for their exquisite voices and grasp of the local dialect.

"Who taught you this song? My Kenyan people, they are known as Zabron choir from Tanzania and they sing Kikuyu. Riveroad we are coming," the gospel singer stated amongst cheers and laughter from the choir.

The song was warmly received online as people gushed over their rendition and mastery of the Kikuyu language.

Jubilee communications officer Polycarp Hinga was among those who shared the video and was in awe of their performance.

Zabron choir are primarily known for the Swahili version of the song - which became an internet sensation in Kenya as the song was being used in churches as well as for online humour.

The song has over 36 million views on YouTube - becoming their most viewed song to date.

In the recent past, a section of Kikuyu songs became a wave across social media platforms which led to the majority of Kenyans resonating with them.

Firirida, was the latest sensation, which captivated many people and led to dance challenges on Tiktok as well as garnering 425,000 views on Youtube. 

The song, which was released in 1986, was sung by Kikuyu vernacular musician Dick Munyonyi.
