The ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway has turned the Kenyan Capital into a grid-locked city with cars piling up for hours on end during rush hour.

Mombasa Road, Uhuru & Waiyaki Highways have been scenes of road carnage as motorists try to find new routes to save on time. Overlapping and consequently accidents have become a common feature.

Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), on Sunday, June 6, directed the contractor in charge of the Ksh65 billion Nairobi Expressway to implement a better traffic management system on Mombasa Road.

This came after concerns regarding increased traffic snarl-up affecting the major highway were raised by motorists.

The directive came a day after KeNHA Chairman Eng. Wangai Ndirangu and Director General Eng. Peter Mundinia conducted an inspection of the highway on Saturday, June 5

The Project is conceptualized under the Public-Private Partnership between the Government of Kenya and the Government of the Kingdom of Spain.
