President Uhuru Kenyatta has been issued with tough demands by a section of leaders drawn from Deputy President William Ruto's camp ahead of his tour to the Rift Valley.

President Uhuru is expected to meet the rebels face-to-face after his bitter fallout with DP Ruto.

Despite the bad blood between President Uhuru and his Deputy, a section of leaders from the Rift Valley Region have promised to give him a warm reception but with a list of demands.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei stated that he expects the President to explain what his government has done for the Rift Valley region since he ascended to power particularly during Jubilee's second term.

The outspoken senator claimed several roads in the Rift Valley region have stalled in the second term of Uhuru's administration.

"Many projects initiated by the national government have stalled. We will be demanding an audit of national government projects. We hope he will sanction the release of money to complete these projects," Senator Cherargei told The Standard.

He further added that the people of the Rift Valley region are no longer interested in his endorsement but will hope for a fair competition during the 2022 General elections.

Elgeyo marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen expressed displeasure at President Uhuru's absence in the rift valley region since the 2017 polls.

"Rift Valley region under the leadership of DP Ruto has voted for U huru Kenyatta four times. For four years he has been missing in the region. His visit is long overdue. We have many questions touching on projects and governance. We shall be there under the leadership of DP Ruto who led us to him. I can’t wait" Murkomen stated on his online platforms.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi on his side has stated that he is not aware of what President Uhuru has in store for the residents ahead of his tour but promised to accord him a warm welcome.

"We have no objection and we shall accord the president a warm welcome to our region."

Sudi has gone further to retort that the President may be only going to the Rift Valley to salute the people who voted for him overwhelmingly during the 2013 and 2017 General elections.

"Maybe the president is coming to salute the people who voted for him in large numbers," Sudi told the press.

Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor Wesley Rotich wants the President to address the escalating cases of banditry attacks in the region.
