ODM leader Raila Odinga bowed to pressure agreeing to share the Political Parties Funds with fellow NASA Principals in an effort to end the stalemate.

Raila wrote to the four NASA Principals agreeing to share the funds attributed to the Members of parliaments.

In a letter addressed to ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, and Chama Cha Mashinani's Isaac Ruto, Raila strictly agreed to release the funds obtained through the parliamentary election for the financial year 2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20.

Jubilee received Ksh 353,856,428 while ODM received Ksh 165,252,076 remitted by the National Treasury from the Political Parties Fund to cater for the second, third, and fourth quarters.

Raila stated that the decision to release funds will scale down the unhealthy exchange of words pitting the principals in the coalition against ODM.

"The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is appreciative of the constructive consultations that have taken place among the leaders of our respective parties."

"Consequently thereto, our party has deliberated internally and resolved that, without prejudice, we share with our coalition partners ODM's share of the political parties funds attributed to parliamentary (and excluding presidential, gubernatorial, and county assemblies) votes for the financial years 2017/18,2018/19 and 2019/20," Raila stated.

This comes after intense lobbying and meetings between Raila and Kalonzo -who stated that some people in ODM were misleading Raila. The Wiper leader claimed that the Raila-led party has extremist members who were misleading Raila to take a hard stance on the matter.

Initially, ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna had taken a hard stance on the share of political parties' funds.

During an interview on Jalang'o TV, Sifuna threw jibes at Kalonzo, who he claimed does not answer his calls. The ODM Secretary-General further called on the three parties to send him their paybill numbers for him to send their share which is less than Ksh3,000.

"When the repeat presidential election was held Raila got 18,000 votes so we only get Ksh11,000. Wiper, Ford Kenya, and ANC should send me their till number so that I send them this money. I will send Kalonzo Ksh2,500 and Wetangula Ksh2,500," he stated.
