“We invite interested and qualified aspirants to submit their application for the by-elections in Eldas Ward in Wajir County, Kiagu Ward in Meru County and Nguu/Masumba Ward in Makueni County. The by-elections will be held on October 14, 2021,” stated Maina.

“ All applications must be made online,” she directed.

This comes weeks after the UDA party won the recent  Kiambaa by-elections which saw Njuguna Wanjiku garner  21,773 votes defeating Jubilee's Kariri Njama who got 21,263 votes.

Njuguna who made his debut in politics through the Kiambaa by-election was overcome by emotions when the final results were confirmed by the IEBC Returning Officer.

“I want to thank God this has been tough but we have overcome. I thank my party and the Deputy President for their support. I want to tell people that the hustler nation is real and I became their candidate even without being known, hustler nation is real,” he said.

Central Kenya, which has produced three of the country’s four presidents including the current president, is widely seen as a key battleground zone in the next elections in which President Uhuru Kenyatta will be ineligible to run after serving his two constitutional terms.
