Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi has responded to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i over threats to sue him for defamation.

Itumbi, on Sunday, August 15,  made public a letter he penned to Matiang'i in response to a demand letter made by the CS on Wednesday last week.

The CS through his advocates asked the blogger to immediately retract offensive tweets linking him to the Ruaraka Land Scandal.

Itumbi was also given until Friday, August 13, to apologize, failure to which he would face a defamation suit.

The digital strategist defied the demand by Matiang'i and proceeded to give a defiant response - saying he was ready for a court battle.

"The three tweets are bourne under reference are bourne out of information and circumstances that are well-known in the public domain and are in no way defamatory and malicious," read the Intumbi's response.

He went on to accuse the CS of denying him his freedom of expression which is constitutionally guaranteed and accused the Interior boss of running away from public scrutiny.

"You are a highly visible public figure incapable of hiding under the law of defamation whenever Kenyans exercise their constitutional rights of opinion and expression on your suitability and expression on your suitability and performance," retorted Itumbi.

He went on to blame the CS for the excesses of the current government, including the persecution of people who are associated with Deputy President William Ruto.

The digital strategist has garnered media and public attention after he claimed that he was trailed by unknown assailants who attacked him and 'shot at him' at Thome, Kasarani.

Itumbi recorded a statement at Kasarani Police Station alleging an attempt on his life on Friday, August 12, in claims that detectives probing the scene, refuted.
