President William Ruto's son-in-law, Alexander Ezenagu, is raising eyebrows after it emerged that he is attending a number of State of functions.

On Tuesday, October 11, there was uproar among a section of Kenyans after a photo surfaced showing Ezenagu in the company of the president's daughter during his recent visit to Uganda.

The photo which was first shared on Twitter by Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni showed Ezenagu sitting next to his wife, June Ruto.

Ezenagu who was dressed in a well-fitted suit and a goddamn tie focused sharply through his eyeglasses together with the President's daughter who was sitting to his left.

Another photo shared by Uganda's President showed President William Ruto in the company of South Sudan's president Salva Kiir and Burundi's president Evariste Ndayishimiye among other dignitaries heading to a State dinner at Speke Resort Munyonyo gardens.

"Later, I hosted Their Excellencies to a State dinner at Speke Resort Munyonyo gardens, I welcome Their Excellencies and thank them for honouring our invitation. Today we shall get time to talk to the people," read a caption by Museveni.

Ezenagu was also spotted at the President's inauguration event at Kasarani stadium and at State House during the luncheon alongside his wife, June Ruto.

His presence around the President especially during state functions and foreign trips has raised concerns as to whether he holds a position in Ruto's government and if it amounts to misuse of public resources.

ODM Director of Communications, Philip Etale, took to his social media account to castigate the President's son-in-law for accompanying him on all the trips despite him being a billionaire.

“President Ruto’s Son-in-Law is over the moon. He is accompanying his father-in-law on all the trips. Where I come from, a son-in-law keeps a safe distance from In-Laws and only meets on special occasions but with limited access to parents-in-law. But this one reminds me of Ivanka and hubby Jared Kushner,” Etale tweeted.

On the other hand, Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly Robert Alai urged the President to keep away his family from state functions to avoid wasting state resources.

“Why is he travelling with the President all over? Why are we wasting state funds now Mr President? Family should stay away,”  Alai tweeted.

Some angry Kenyans urged the Presidents son-in-law to travel if he wants but on the condition that he should not be part of Kenya’s entourage.

“The President is the President of Kenya, not his life. His business is Kenya's business, his in-law isn't Kenya's business. If his in-law wants to travel, he shouldn't be part of Kenya's entourage,” Black Simba tweeted.

However, other Kenyans faulted the president for complaining that there is no cash to run the country while on the other hand, he is engaging in foreign trips with a huge crowd of relatives and friends hovering around him.

“The president is not serious about the economy. On one hand, he complaining about no cash left to run the country on another hand this is travelling All over other nations with a huge crowd of relatives and friends,” Wickyanjia tweeted.

The Nigerian international came to light after he tied the knot with the Presidents daughter, June Ruto on May 27, 2021, in a colourful event that saw guests and allies of the President attend.

Ezenagu is among Ruto's trusted men who hang out with him. On his trip to Uganda and Tanzania, the President was accompanied by First Lady Rachel Ruto, and Cabinet Secretary nominees Aden Duale and Alfred Mutua.
