Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi warned local politicians, majorly aligned with the opposition, who skipped President William Ruto's Western Kenya tour, that they were under the government's radar.
Musalia, on Saturday, did not spell any consequences for the politicians but cautioned that their grievances and pleas would not be addressed should they seek to engage the current administration.
Speaking at the launch of Mulukhoba Fish Landing Site in Port Victoria Busia County, PCS Mudavadi wondered why the local leaders failed to honour invites, yet President William Ruto has continuously shown willingness to work with politicians across all divides.
"Ukisusia lako halipo (If you decline to attend, your portion is unvailable). Mr. President, some people have been blaming you and your government for excluding them. They have constantly claimed that your administration lacks inclusivity.
"However, from Nyanza (our neighbours), we can see that you appointed Francis Ogola as the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Eliud Owalo as CS for ICT and Raymond Omollo as Principal Secretary (PS) for Interior and more leaders who were appointed as chairs of boards," Mudavadi explained.
He added that Ruto appointed Humphrey Mulongo Wattanga as the new Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner General for 3 years, effective August 22.
Wattanga, he stated, hails from Western Kenya, underscoring Ruto's promise to spread his appointments across the country.
Mudavadi also emphasised that the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) nominee, Renson Mulele Ingonga, is a Kakamega County native.
Ingonga would assume office once vetted by the National Assembly, and Mudavadi is optimistic that the DPP nominee will convince the parliamentarians that he is fit to succeed his predecessor Noordin Haji who was appointed as Director General of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
Ruto was also praised for appointing Andrew Mukite Musangi, the late tycoon Chris Kirubi's son-in-law, as the Chair of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Board of Directors.
"Therefore, they (opposition) are accusing you of this inclusivity or lack of inclusivity; isn't it insubstantial?
"Is Ruto scared of anybody? Is he a person who is scared of being accused of lack of inclusivity? He has shown that he can trsut even the security of the nation in the hands of any Kenyan. Let us put propaganda aside," Mudavadi cautioned the opposite.
At the event, Ruto stated that fishery is one of the main drivers of our country’s economic growth, yet its potential remains under-exploited.
He pledged to work with local leaders to develop the region. Among those in attendance other than Mudavadi was Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Busia Governor and Senator Paul Otuoma and Okiya Omtatah respectively, CSs Salim Mvurya (Mining) and Ababu Namwamba (Sports), Bundalangi MPs Raphael Wanjala (Budalangi) and Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) and former Westlands MP Fred Gumo.
