Kenya Meteorological Department has listed five areas in Nairobi that will not experience rainfall on Friday, April 19, as witnessed in the past few days.

In a forecast for Nairobi County, Kenya Met listed Embakasi Central, Embakasi West, parts of Ruaraka, parts of Kamukunji and Embakasi North.

Additionally, areas along Lang'ata and Kasarani will not experience rainfall in the next 24 hours.

According to Kenya Met, the majority of areas in Nairobi will experience rainfall of up to 20 mm in the morning hours and throughout the day.

At the same time, areas around Westlands and Dagoretti are set to experience rainfall of up to 50 mm. This is considered "heavy" or violent rains.

Kenya Met had warned Kenyans to anticipate heavy rainfall exceeding 40 mm across various parts of the country.

This includes regions around Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and Coastal regions.

Counties that were put on high alert include Kakamega, Bomet, Kericho, Nandi, Nyamira, Vihiga, Bungoma, Narok, Nakuru and Trans-Nzoia.

Others include Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Nyamira, Kisumu, Homabay, Siaya, Migori and Busia.

The heavy rainfall poses a great risk of flooding and disruption of day-to-day activities.

In the past three days, several parts of the country have experienced heavy rainfall with photos and videos circulating online showing Kenyans stranded as they attempt to cross flooded areas in Nairobi.

The Interior Ministry later issued a statement, announcing the formation of the Multi-Agency Disaster Management Team to monitor the situation across the country.

In extreme cases, the government is set to issue mandatory evacuation orders in specific areas prone to flooding.
