Al Shabaab Operatives Take Police to Hideout

Eight al shabaab militiamen arrested on Tuesday took police to their hideout from which they are believed to have been planning attacks.

Police in Mandera said the suspects were arrested between Kotulo and Lafey during an operation in the areas.

“They have been very cooperative; they took us to the hideout they retreated to after carrying out attacks. Some of them are planners and others ringleaders,” North Eastern Regional Coordinator Mohamud Saleh was quoted by the Star.

The police boss said that some of the nabbed suspects admitted to have been involved in the recent terror attacks in Mandera.

On December 21, al shabaab claimed responsibility for an attack on a bus where Muslims shielded Christians and only two people were killed.
