Christians Should Apologise to Gay People - Pope Francis

Pope Francis has sent shock waves across the world after he told Christians and the Roman Catholic Church to seek forgiveness from the Gay community.

Speaking on Sunday, the Pope urged Christians to ask for forgiveness for discriminating against the homosexuals.

"We Christians have to apologise for so many things, not just for this (mistreatment of gay people), but we must ask for forgiveness. Not just apologise — forgiveness," the pope said.

"Who am I to judge?" he added.

The Pontiff also asked Christians to apologise to exploited people including the poor and women.

"I think that the Church not only should apologise... to a gay person whom it offended but it must also apologise to the poor as well, to the women who have been exploited, to children who have been forced to work," he remarked.

His sentiments have, however, received mixed reactions as some people have criticised him for supposedly defending the gay community while some agreed with the Holy Father stating that everyone deserved to be loved.
