County Officials Brutally Beaten by Prison Warders

Eight askaris from Kiambu County government have been hospitalized with serious injuries after prison warders allegedly brutally attacked them.

This comes as an indication of the ongoing row between the county government and Thika GK Prison taking a turn for the worse.

The two factions are in conflict over the proposed constriction of a Sh200 million dual carriage.

A three kilometer section of the road was set to pass through he prison's land -a move which was rejected by the prison management, resulting in a tussle.

On Thursday, county askaris allegedly escorted a bulldozer to the prison so as to begin the road construction process.

Prison warders allegedly started firing at the askaris and locked up four of them.

The four are said to have been mercilessly beaten by the said warders.

Confirming the incidents to journalists,  county askaris Deputy Head Peter Kiama said the askaris had already recorded statements with the police.
