Deputy Governor Missing since 2015

Bomet Deputy Governor Stephen Mutai has allegedly been missing from the County office for the last one year.

According to Governor Isaac Ruto, Mr Mutai has deserted his duties as the deputy since 2015.

The Governor has now threatened to take away Mr Mutai's vehicle, staff and other privileges if he does not report back to office in the next three days.

"I have not seen him working with us for the last one year. He must return to work within the shortest time possible," Ruto was quoted by the Standard.

"He has neglected his duties and is now going around gossiping. I doubt if he has acquainted himself with what he is supposed to do as my deputy. I am the one who should assign him duties yet he has not reported to work for more than a year," he added.

However, Mutai indicated that he was unable to carry out his duties for the past two years as his office was denied funds.

Earlier in May, the Bomet Deputy Governor declared his interest in the County's top seat come 2017.

“I have been a deputy for the last three years. During this time, I have gained enough muscle to wrestle the seat from my boss,” Mutai stated.
