Detectives Find First 'Evidence' in Jacob Juma Murder

Detectives probing Jacob Juma's death have recovered two cartridges at the scene where the businessman's body was found.

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Ndegwa Muhoro on Tuesday revealed that they used a special metal detector to find the spent cartridges which were from an AK47 rifle.

Muhoro stated that ballistic experts would examine the cartridges to establish if the weapon had been used elsewhere.

“The probe is ongoing and we hope to crack the case soon. The two cartridges will be tested by experts to know if they were used in the attack and any other.”

“It looks complicated but we are pursuing all possible leads to ensure we know how it happened,” the DCI boss stated.

The police had initially failed to find bullet shells at the scene of the crime, which raised speculations that the assailants were professional in the businessman's execution as they could have had cartridge holders to eliminate evidence.

Initial body examination indicated that Juma was shot in the chest with at least two bullets exiting from the back. The damage on the businessman's body which suggest a close range shooting, contradicts police version of the story, that the deceased was killed while in motion.

Juma's autopsy report also showed that he was shot five times in the neck and his right hand was severely injured, which according to security experts was an indication that he had either struggled or was begging for mercy from his attackers.

The millionaire's body was found last Thursday at night near Lenana School off Karen road and his car was later towed to Karen Police Station. Police have been accused by various quarters of failing to secure the crime scene by hurriedly removing Juma's body and his car from the crime scene.
