DP Ruto Dismisses Corruption Charges, Admits Ownership of Controversial Hotel

Deputy President William Ruto has finally admitted to having shares in the controversial Weston hotel but maintains his innocence against corruption charges and denied that he grabbed the Langata primary school land.

Speaking during an interview on a show on Citizen Tv, Ruto said that the corruption charges leveled against him are baseless, and that they are being instigated by the opposition in an attempt to spoil his political career.

The hotel hit headlines early January after school children in Langata, Nairobi were teargassed while protesting that a private developer was building on their play ground.

It was later revealed that the Deputy President was the owner of the hotel. Ruto has now said that the hotel is not built on the schools land, and that the school and the hotel each have different title deeds.

He also denied being involved in the Sh28 billion Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital scam.
