Ex-Al Shabaab Suspects Kill Security Officials

Three officials of Nyumba Kumi initiative were on Sunday morning killed in cold blood by armed gunmen in Diani, Kwale County.

The officials are said to have been gunned down at around 2am by suspected former Al Shabaab militants in separate incidents at their homes.

Confirming the incident, Regional police boss Francis Wanjohi said that the same gunmen are also suspected to have killed a former Al Shabaab fighter two weeks ago.

According to authorities, the deceased was accused of being a traitor after surrendering during a previous amnesty given by the government.

Investigations have been launched to establish the motive behind the attacks.

Nyumba Kumi is an initiated established under the Jubilee government meant to create national security awareness especially in the grassroots in an attempt to improve safety.
