Ex-Police Constable Linked to Jacob Juma's Murder

A former police constable has been linked to the murder of controversial Nairobi businessman Jacob Juma that occurred three weeks ago.

The ex-officer identified as Simon Muturi, 28, is said to be the leader of a notorious kidnapping gang that was gunned down last Sunday near the Nyayo Stadium roundabout.

During the incident, an AK47 rifle alleged to have been the murder weapon in Juma's killing was recovered and it is believed that Muturi had it.

On Thursday, a statement from the police indicated that Muturi previously served at Wilson Airport, Ngong and Nairobi’s Central Police Station.

However, the police have only managed to identify two members of the gang after it kidnapped the daughter of veteran politician Kenneth Matiba.

Muturi was interdicted from the National Police Service after suspicion arose that he was involved in criminal activities.

According to the police, the gang is responsible for 15 abductions and carjacking incidents across Nairobi and demanded ransom from their victim's families.

The victims included foreigners residing in the country.
