Gay Church Leader Charged for Seducing Journalist

A male teacher was on Wednesday charged at a Murang'a Court after being arrested for sending seductive messages to a male Journalist, whom he was supposedly trying to woo into homosexuality.

The suspect was charged with soliciting for sex before being released on a Sh200,000 bond and a surety of the same after pleading guilty to the charges.

The teacher, Godfrey Mburu Waithera, had been sending text messages to Radio Host Victor Kinuthia.

According to Mr Kinuthia, his media house had gone for a road show in Gatanga where he gave his number to the residents to alert him in case they caught up with a story.

After a couple of days, the journalist said he started receiving explicit love messages from a man who claimed to know him.

The Radio Host, stated that he warned the teacher, who is also a youth leader at a local PCEA church, but he persisted demanding for sex.

The Journalist got pissed off with the gay teacher's continuous requests, prompting him to organise for a set up meeting where he was accompanied by police officers and journalists.

Kinuthia divulged that the suspect sounded excited and anxious, when he agreed to ameeting, oblivious of a plan to net him.

On the material day, the Journalist reached at the meeting point first and after a few minutes the teacher arrived, only to be captured by undercover police officers.

“When I got to Githioro, the suspect came smiling and entered the car I was driving, saying he was to see me,” he said.

The teacher admitted to being gay, claiming he was introduced into the practice by a group of friends.
