Governor 'Exposes' MP With No KCSE Certificate

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has challenged Kabete Member of Parliament Ferdinand Waititu to court over his degree allegedly obtained from India's Punjab University.

Kabogo filed an urgent suit on Friday stating that the legislator was not qualified to hold a public office and had breached the Leadership and Integrity Act to get the seat.

He vowed to prove that Waititu had no further academic qualification past the primary level.

Governor Kabogo stated that he was a student at Punjab University and was taken aback when Waititu claimed to have studied at the the same institution.

“In any event, the MP never went to India for Higher Education,’’ Kabogo claimed.

The Kiambu leader said he had evidence to demonstrate that the lawmaker's education background was not legit and had infringed the Constitution to be elected into office.

Questions surrounding Waititu's academic background first emerged when he was vying for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat, before he eventually displayed his certificate to the public through the media.

However, even after unveiling it, the document was doubted as the name on it was inconsistent with that on his national Identification Card.

The certificate he presented at a media briefing, bore the name Clifford Ndung’u Waititu while the name ‘Ferdinand’ appears on his national ID and passport.

The Kabete MP defended himself saying that he was in the process of adding the name Clifford to his ID.

According to Waititu, he completed secondary school in 1981 at Dagoretti High School then proceeded to Technical University of Kenya, formerly the Kenya Polytechnic, before proceeding to Punjab University in India.
