I Will Never Complain of Stolen Elections Again - Raila

Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga has assured his supporters that he will not complain of stolen votes in the next General Election, citing strategies he would employ to curb rigging.

Speaking Thursday during an interview on Ramogi FM, the Opposition chief stated that he would train and deploy party agents in every polling station across the country.

The agents will be tasked with transmitting the national tallying centre images of every result announced in streams.

The former Prime Minister further noted that his team would set up a parallel electronic vote tallying system, running concurrently with that of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

Odinga urged his supporters to come out and register in large numbers in order to vote.

“Just register, vote and leave the rest to me – but, this time round, am not coming to tell you my votes have been stolen,” urged Raila.

Raila has previously attributed his failed attempts to clinch Presidency during previous elections, to massive rigging of the presidential votes.

The ODM leader has taken a shot at the Presidency three times, with the 2007 elections, which culminated into deadly ethnic violence,  remaining the most disputed.

Meanwhile, ODM is preparing to conduct a free and fair nomination exercise six months before the polls date, to avoid the fall-outs that have seen contenders decamp to other parties claiming unfair nominations.

Reports indicate that the Raila has told ODM officials that they must do everything they can to ensure party nominations are free, fair and peaceful, with only the most popular candidates receiving tickets to vie for elective positions.
