KDF Fighter Jets Raze Down Al Shabaab Camps

Kenya's Fighter jets have bombed two major Al Shabaab training camps under the cover of darkness, reports from Somalia indicate.

A senior army commander of the Jubba administration told Somali media, that the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) assault planes razed down the enemy's Behani and Abdalla Birole camps just 45km south of Kismayo.

The Friday night attack is said to have targeted senior Al shabaab commanders with unconfirmed reports indicating massive casualties among trainees.

KDF has been conducting lethal retaliatory attacks on Al Shabaab after the militia group staged a deadly ambush on a Kenyan camp at El Adde in January.

Since then, hundreds of militants have been killed in different air and ground assaults by Kenyan and foreign forces including multiple airstrikes by the US.

In March the US Pentagon announced that it had killed over 150 fighters during an Al Shabaab graduation ceremony in Rasa, about 190km north of Mogadishu.

Also in March KDF killed 34 Al-Shabaab militants and captured a middle-level commander in two separate ground battles.

According to Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the group has been losing ground and only controls a small territory in Southern Somalia.
