Kenya Revenue Authority Officer Suspended Over Ivory Seized In Singapore

Kenya Revenue Authority has suspended the officer who handled shipment of Sh570m ivory and animal products seized in Singapore on Tuesday.

The Nation reports that KRA officers are also looking for the directors of the exporting company, which handled the cargo and the driver of a truck used to ferry the two 20-foot containers containing the wildlife trophy.

The haul of ivory and exotic animals was nabbed hidden among bags on transit to Vietnam from Kenya and is said to be the largest illegal shipment siezed in ten years.

In a statement, KRA Commissioner General John Njiraini said they have revised their procedures to include scanning of cargo previously considered "low risk", The Star reports.
