Kidero Sparks 'Fresh War' with Mike Sonko

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has reportedly made remarks that could spark a new wave of controversy between him and Senator Mike Sonko.

The Nairobi Governor is said to have accused Sonko of using his ambulances and hearses to supply drugs to the slums The Star reports.

Dr Kidero is quoted saying that it is very ironical that ambulances are roaming all over the roads in full sirens for people to assume someone’s health is in danger only to find out they are dashing drugs to some place.

He further notes that it is sad for respected leaders to use their influence to destroy the young generation with drugs instead of mentorship and financial empowerment projects to end poverty.

The Nairobi Senator is yet to respond to the Governor's remarks.

Kidero was speaking to Mathare residents where he officiated the launch of AQtap water ATMs.

The Nairobi Senator and Governor have in the past clashed, with Kidero threatening to impound Sonko's 'Rescue Team' Hearses.

According to a Nation report Kidero had alleged that the sonko 'rescue team' hearses were not licensed, claims that the senator refuted.

The baattle for political supremacy between the two City leaders also played out at Uhuru Park during this year's Labour Day celebrations, prompting President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene.
