Kuria Attacks Raila, Days After Lunch Date

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has condemned CORD leader Raila Odinga, just a week after the two had a reconciliation lunch date.

According to Kuria, Mr Odinga had disappointed him by politicising the peace campaign by eight legislators who were arrested over hate speech allegations.

The controversial legislator said that the CORD principal had gone against their agreement, “Raila has taken over the peace campaign caravan as his political tool.We had agreed not to politicise court matters but Raila Odinga is doing exactly that,” said Kuria.

He accused Odinga of being a hypocrite and a barrier to peace promotion in the country.

“This is a clear sign of hypocrisy and proof that the biggest impediment to peace in this country is Raila Odinga,” added Kuria.

Kuria who was speaking on Sunday said that Odinga had turned the caravan into a weapon of attacking the Jubilee government.

The criticism came after Odinga planned homecoming parties for the detained legislators affiliated to CORD. Last week Odinga together with other CORD principals had lunch at K'Osewe restaurant with seven legislators who were detained at Pangani and Muthaiga police stations.

Among those detained were; MPs Junet Mohammed (Suna East MP), Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba MP), Women Representatives Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi) and Florence Mutua (Busia) and Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama.

Jubilee legislators included; MPs Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete) and Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati).

During the lunch meeting, Kuria said that they had agreed to form a peace campaign that would see them traverse home counties of the eight leaders in efforts to preach peace.
