Man With Bullet Arrested at Uhuru Prayer Rally

A 21-year old man is being held at a Nakuru Police Station after he was found with a bullet during the prayer meeting at Afraha Stadium.

The man identified as Dickson Oduor Gwala was arrested with a 7.62mm round at the Saturday event that was attended by President Uhuru Kenyaatta and his deputy William Ruto among other leaders.

It is reported that the police accompanied Gwala to his house at Bondeni area for a further search, but details of the exercise have remained unknown.

The motive of Mr Gwala is yet to be established as it also remains unclear whether he was working alone or was in a network to cause trouble at the function.

However, according to a police officer who sought anonymity, the suspect claimed that he had picked the live bullet while heading to the stadium and wanted to hand it over to the police.

The thanksgiving rally, which was organised by Jubilee leaders following the case termination of DP Ruto and journalist Joshua Sang at the International Criminal Court, was guarded by about 4000 security agents who performed checks on all the attendees.

Prior to the Saturday function, eight people were apprehended on suspicion that they were planning to disrupt the meeting.
