Moses Kuria Suffers Blow In Court Battle Against the DPP

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has lost a bid to stop the cancellation of his cash bail as requested by the Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko.

The court has instead allowed for the hearing of the DPP’s application.

Tobiko’s application will be heard on August 19.

Moses Kuria appeared in court today to know whether his bail term would be cancelled or not.

The DPP wants Kuria’s bail withdrawn and the legislator held in prison for contravening earlier terms, set for him against perpetuating hate speech.

The Gatundu South legislator allegedly went ahead to incite youth to slash politicians and anyone opposing the National Youth Service Projects, using machttes, despite having another pending hate speech case.

Kuria has been restrained from making statements that amount to incitement to violence and ethnic hatred relating to an earlier case where he is accused of making inciting utterances over the Gikomba market terror attack.

This comes in the wake of a summon notice issued to Kuria by his party's disciplinary Committee over alleged disciplinary offenses.

Kuria has been summoned among seven other TNA legislators to appear before the party's disciplinary committee, next week, to answer to disciplinary charges.
