The mother of Victoria Wairimu who died after a scuffle with former Defence Minister Njenga Karume's grandson, Kennedy Karume, moved a Kiambu court after appearing with a bible and photo of her daughter.
Ruth Nyakio stood in court during the mentioning of the murder case, waving the bible and her daughter's picture while declaring that only God would fight for her.
The woman was addressing Kiambu Principal Magistrate Justus Kituku in the packed courtroom, as the suspect (Karume) took to the stand to answer to charges of causing Wairimu's death.
“There is God who represents the poor and a God who represents the rich but they all meet at the same point and I know my God will preside over this case,” she sobbed.
During the hearing, police officers were allowed to detain Karume for 10 days to help them complete investigations into the matter.
The suspect's lawyer Stephen Kibunja protested the decision, claiming that his client had been beaten by a mob before he was arrested and needed to be treated.
However, the magistrate ordered the officers to ensure he accessed medical assitance before being arraigned in court to formally answer to the charges.
Mr Karume was apprehended on Thursday after he was accused of pushing the deceased from the fourth floor of their apartment following a domestic quarrel.
Wairimu is said to have fallen on an electric fence which electrocuted her, before hitting a concrete wall after which she succumbed to injuries.
