A businessman has taken Pastor James Ng'ang'a of the Neno Evangelism ministry to the High Court, for what he says is his unexplainable deposit of Sh2.3 M into the church's account, in exchange for prayers.
Geoffrey Ndung’u on Thursday got court orders to freeze the church's accounts until he got compensation for the money.
According to the Nairobi trader, he had approached the pastor for spiritual healing only to later end up giving the hefty amount to the church, Capital Fm reports.
Ndung'u said he was not in control of his faculties when he gifted the church the money.
He says he has been trying to get the church to return the money since April 2012 to no avail.
For that reason, he finally decided to move to court.
According to The Star, Pastor Nganga said he does not owe Ndung’u anything adding that if he indeed gave the money after prayers, then it was a 'gift' to the church.
He added that if the businessman deposited the money, it was done so without coercion or inducement.
He dismissed the suit saying Ndung'u had no grounds to sue him.
The case will be mentioned on September 22.
This is the latest of controversies facing the pastor.
He is currently out on bail after he was charged with causing an accident that killed one person and injured another.
