Persons Behind Exam Leakages Revealed

Education Committee Chair Sabina Chege has revealed culprits involved in exam cheating that has marred the 2015 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Examination.

Ms Chege blamed the police tasked with guarding the national examination papers for the malpractices that have hit the headlines.

The Committee Chair cited that officers were involved in the shady deals by opening the examination papers at police stations, photographing them then circulating to the candidates.

The policemen are alleged to sell the question papers through WhatsApp to the highest bidder.

Ms Chege further indicated that school Principals were not reporting cases of opened papers to the relevant authorities.

Last Week, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) stated that the questions on nabbed papers were not genuine but confirmed that five teachers and several university students had been arrested for propagating examination malpractices.

The Council's boss Joseph Kivilu has been under pressure to suspend the exams but firmly stated that they would go on as scheduled.

“I wish to assure Kenyans that the examinations are secure and will continue as scheduled. All the papers were successfully done despite the alleged unauthorised release of papers done this week,” he declared.

Despite the widespread cheating and publication of the leaked papers on the media, the Government maintains that the said leakages are not genuine.
