Police in Nairobi have shot dead three suspected robbers in a dramatic chase from the ABC Center to Barclays Bank, Westlands branch.
It is said that the suspects were planning to raid Barclays bank before being intercepted by the police.
Police confirmed that they were pursuing one thug who escaped although eyewitnesses claimed to have spotted two, one being a female.
Two guns were recovered in the operation that was led by officers from Special Crime Prevention Unit supported by the Flying Squad.
According to OCPD Gigiri, Vitalis Otieno, the felled thugs who were in a Toyota Filder had been under their radar for a period of time. He added that they used cctv footage and information from informants to get the notorious suspects.
"The shooting took five minutes, we have mobile phones of those killed and the contacts of the one who ran away," stated Otieno.
The OCPD said that the bodies were taken to City mortuary and assured that they would soon get hold of the suspect at large.
The noon incident caused a traffic snarl up along the busy Waiyaki Way as residents milled around the crime scene.
