PHOTOS: Chaos in Kisumu as IEBC Protests Spread

Kisumu residents on Tuesday took to the streets demonstrating against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) a day after protests against the Commission were launched by CORD leaders in Nairobi.

Led by Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, protesters proceeded to the electoral body's offices located at Milimani area, waving placards inscribed 'IEBC Must Go'.

Police deployed at the scene dispersed the crowd using teargas disrupting the protest that have reportedly been scheduled to take place countrywide.

In a dramatic twist, Central-Gem MCA Fred Ouda chained himself onto the gates of IEBC Central Nyanza Region offices demonstrating against the electoral body.

On Monday, CORD leaders and supporters under the leadership of Raila Odinga made their way to IEBC headquarters demanding the exit of commissioners but they were intercepted by anti riot officers who bombarded them with teargas.

The Opposition leaders tried to break into IEBC offices at the Anniversary Towers along University Way but their efforts were fruitless.
