A huge fire erupted on Wednesday in one of the hostels at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) main campus.
The midday inferno is reported to have began in a room located at the top floor of Hall 6 - men's hostel- before spreading to neighbouring rooms on the block.
The incident caused a scare among students at the campus. The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
Fire brigade department from Kiambu County joined by students at the institution managed to contain the fire which razed down 26 rooms.
No casualties were reported during the inferno.
The incident comes days after the students went on a rampage demonstrating over the death of one of their colleague at the Varsity's hospital.
