PHOTOS: KBC Building Locked, Garbage Dumped at Entrance

Nairobi County Government officials on Tuesday blocked all entries to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) premises and took over the car park.

The officers stormed the National Broadcaster located along Harry Thuku Road in Nairobi, after the state owned media house allegedly failed to pay land rates amounting to Sh2 Billion.

The officials accompanied by City askaris arrived at the gates with a truck and reportedly dumped garbage to send message home. They later erected a billboard and banner indicating that the building had been placed under the management of 'Nairobi City County'.

The media house has reportedly been at logger heads with the County Government due to accruing debt.

Last year, Governor Evans Kidero threatened to auction property belonging to all land rate defaulters mentioning KBC as one of the organizations which owed his government.

The County boss had earlier indicated that the corporation owed the government Sh900 Million.

In 2013, the Corporation, which has recently been experiencing financial crisis, found itself in a tight position after its workers downed their tools decrying lack of full scale reforms and poor pay.
