A requiem mass was on Wednesday held to celebrate the life of the late former First Lady Lucy Kibaki who passed on a week ago.
The event, which took place at the Consolata Shrine in Nairobi's Westlands area, was preceded by a procession from Lee Funeral Home where the family held prayers surounding the casket covered with the Kenyan flag.
The church service in honour of Mrs Kibaki, was attended by various leaders and dignitaries including President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto, Opposition leader Raila Odinga among other political leaders.
During the mass, former President Mwai Kibaki's family members took time to pay tribute to Mama Lucy with the same being reiterated by the Head of State and Ruto who passed their messages of condolence.
After the requiem mass, the body was returned to Lee Funeral Home awaiting transportation to Othaya Sub-county, where another mass will be conducted at Othaya Approved School.
The former First Lady will then be laid to rest at a private ceremony within the same location.
