PHOTOS: MP Eats Lunch from Sufuria

Gichugu Member of Parliament Njogu Barua, was over the weekend forced to eat lunch from a sufuria during a tour to inspect development projects in his constituency.

The MP was reportedly invited to one of the villages for a meal but spoons and plates were inadequate, hence, he opted to use a sufuria.

Barua seemed unmoved despite him being the only person eating from the cooking pot among those who stood beside him.

The lawmaker joins the growing list of senior politicians who have in the recent been pictured sharing meals with villagers.

On Sunday, Deputy President William Ruto ate lunch from a mud-walled hotel at Kamagut village in Uasin Gishu County.

On the other hand, President Uhuru Kenyatta was on Saturday hosted in a mud-house and also received a stalk of sugarcane from an elderly woman in Ndigu-ini village, Kiambu County.

The rare move by the politicians has sparked mixed reactions with some Kenyans praising the leaders for showing humble gestures, while others maintained it was a political strategy to woo the electorate.
