PHOTOS: Uhuru Tests Police Armoured Vehicles

President Uhuru Kenyatta has officially unveiled  the Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) meant for fighting crime by the Kenya Police Service.

The vehicles were officially exhibited at the General Service Unit headquarters where the President announced that the war wagons would be dispatched to border areas in order to boost security.

During the launch, Mr Kenyatta took time to sample the vehicles, riding on them to have a feel of the highly praised 'machines'.

According to the President, the vehicles would ensure independence of the police who will no longer rely on the military even when deployed in highly volatile areas.

"These will enable them to increase their mobility and protective gear when deployed in volatile areas," Uhuru said.

The more than 30 state-of-the art vehicles arrived in the country on Saturday after the President promised to boost the police department to enhance their service delivery.
