Politician's Son Dies After Father's Burial Meeting

The son of the late politician Eliud Ngala Mwendwa, on Monday, collapsed and died barely two days after his father’s burial.

According to reports, Billy Ngala Mwendwa developed breathing problems during a family meeting at their home in Ithookwe Village Kitui County. The family meeting had been convened to review Mzee Ngala's burial which was held last Saturday.

Billy's stepbrother stated that the deceased excused himself from the meeting saying that he had a severe headache and needed rest.

“He told us he’s feeling unwell and wants to rest and we excused him to go to his home not far away from dad’s place. We were called moments later and asked to quickly rush to the hospital where we found he was already gone,” the stepbrother, Muasya Ngala, was quoted by the Nation.

Billy, a former nominated councillor, was rushed to Neema Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The sudden demise of the former minister's son was a shock to the family who said that he was in good health and jovial mood during and after their father’s burial.

His body was taken to Kitui Level Four Hospital mortuary.

Mr Ngala was a former Cabinet Minister for Labour and a veteran politician in Kitui. He died at the age of 93-years.
