Prophet Owuor's Pastor Caught in Sh4.9 Million Theft

A pastor in Prophet David Owuor's Ministries has been arraigned in court on suspicion of defrauding Sh4.9 Million from a Nairobi Church.

Everlyne Opondo of Repentance and Holiness Ministry, Dagoretti Corner branch, was charged at Milimani Law Courts for reportedly obtaining the money from Kings’ Outreach Church.

Ms Opondo allegedly tricked the complainant into parting with the large sum of money claiming that she would help register the Outreach Church countrywide.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Charity Oluoch, the High Court heard that the pastor committed the offence in collaboration with other suspects who were not before the court.

Pastor Opondo denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh500,000 with an alternative of Sh2 Million bond. The case will be heard on August 23.

Several evangelists have in the past been criticised for conning and extorting money from unsuspecting believers under the guise of offering assistance.

In April, a Bishop and Prophetess were arraigned in court after being arrested for allegedly stealing Sh5.6 Million from two worshipers having promised to drive away demons from them.
