Raila Explains Why Madaraka Rally Must Go On

CORD leader Raila Odinga now claims the planned meeting at Uhuru Park on Wednesday is to pray for the nation.

Speaking in Mombasa on Sunday, Odinga affirmed that they had no intentions of causing chaos but to preach peace and seek the truth, justice and reconciliation for the country.

“We are also going on that particular day to pray for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto and the country in general,” Odinga said.

The former Prime Minister further stated that Madaraka Day was a day of uniting Kenyans and their planned rally was not undermining the government as some Jubilee leaders allege.

Odinga added that they had no plan B, hence, the meeting would take place at the Uhuru Park grounds as planned.

The Opposition leaders have urged the police not to disrupt their meeting as the Wednesday rally would be a peaceful mission to pray for unity in the country.

Meanwhile, confusion reigns over occupancy of the Uhuru Park grounds on the Madaraka Day, as both Evangelist Lucy Wa Ngunjiri of Prayers Beyond Boundaries Ministries and CORD insist on booking the park.

The Opposition leaders maintain that the planned rally will go on while Bishop Ngunjiri has affirmed she would not cancel her mission set for May 30-June 3.
